Forsaken map guideForsakenforsaken locations

Welcome to the unforgiving world of Forsaken. Whether you're a fresh survivor or a seasoned veteran, understanding the layout of the land is crucial. This map guide breaks down every region, highlights essential safe zones, pinpoints resource hotspots, and offers practical navigation strategies. Use this alongside our [beginner guide](/guides/beginner-guide) and [progression guide](/guides/progression-guide) to get a head start.

Overview

Forsaken’s map is divided into five distinct biomes, each with its own dangers, resources, and secrets. The world scales in difficulty as you move outward from the central spawn point, The Crossroads. New players should stick to the early zones until they’ve geared up. Check out our [solo guide](/guides/solo-guide) if you're going it alone.

1. The Crossroads

The Crossroads acts as the game’s central hub. It’s the only truly safe zone where PvP is disabled and players can trade, craft, and regroup. Key features:

  • **Vendor Stalls**: Purchase basic supplies, ammunition, and starter gear.
  • **Quest Board**: Daily and weekly missions often start here.
  • **Bank Access**: Store valuable items to avoid losing them upon death.
  • **Party Formation**: Team up with other players before venturing out.

From The Crossroads, four main roads lead into the surrounding regions: North to the Iron Peaks, East to the Sunken Marsh, South to the Crimson Desert, and West to the Whispering Woods. Each road has signposts, but landmarks become scarce the farther you go.

2. Whispering Woods (Beginner Region)

Located west of The Crossroads, the Whispering Woods is the ideal starting area for new characters. Enemies here are weak, and resources are plentiful.

  • **Safe Zone: The Loggers’ Camp** – A small settlement with a workbench, storage crate, and a campfire that restores health over time. No hostile NPCs spawn inside the camp perimeter.
  • **Resource Hotspots**:
  • **Timber Falls**: A dense area of trees perfect for woodcutting. You’ll find Oak, Birch, and occasionally rare Ironwood trees. Needed for crafting early weapons and structures.
  • **Berry Bushes & Herb Patches**: Scattered around the woods, these yield cooking ingredients and basic healing salves.
  • **Old Mine Entrance**: Leads to a shallow cave with copper and tin ore nodes. Beware of low-level cave spiders.
  • **Key Locations**:
  • **The Abandoned Church**: A landmark often used for player meetups. Contains a hidden basement with a lore book and a chest that respawns every hour.
  • **Weeping Lake**: A serene fishing spot. You can catch common fish, but at night, a rare ghostly apparition appears—interacting with it grants a temporary speed buff.

Tip: Use the tall watchtower near the church to get your bearings. The Whispering Woods connect to the Highway, a long road leading to the Iron Peaks.

3. Iron Peaks (Intermediate Region)

As you head north, the terrain becomes mountainous and treacherous. The Iron Peaks are home to skilled hunters, tougher beasts, and valuable mineral veins.

  • **Safe Zone: Hammerfell Keep** – A fortified outpost perched on a cliffside. Features include an advanced crafting station, a blacksmith who can repair gear, and a special trader selling high-grade tools.
  • **Resource Hotspots**:
  • **The Great Quarry**: An open-pit mine brimming with iron, silver, and coal. Expect competition from other players and occasional bandit NPC raids.
  • **Eagle’s Nest Plateau**: Rich in rare herbs used for powerful potions. Watch out for aggressive mountain goats and rock slides.
  • **Glacial Stream**: Provides freshwater and a chance to pan for gold nuggets. Gold sells for a high price at any vendor.
  • **Key Locations**:
  • **Dragon’s Tooth Cave**: A high-level dungeon entrance. Not recommended for solo players below level 25. Inside, you’ll find obsidian deposits and a boss that drops the coveted Drake Scale Shield.
  • **The Pass Watchtower**: A vantage point overlooking both the Woods and the Peaks. Players often snipe from here, so approach cautiously.

To survive the Iron Peaks, equip cold-resistant armor (crafted from wolf pelts) and bring a pickaxe. The region connects to the Sunken Marsh via a winding mountain pass.

4. Sunken Marsh (Hard Region)

East of The Crossroads lies the Sunken Marsh, a putrid wetland filled with toxic fumes and undead creatures. Progress here requires a gas mask or high poison resistance.

  • **Safe Zone: Bogtown** – A shanty settlement built on stilts above the muck. It has a medic who sells antidotes, a food vendor with swamp delicacies, and a ferryman who can take you to hidden islands.
  • **Resource Hotspots**:
  • **Corpsebloom Fields**: These glowing flowers are key for crafting anti-venom and high-level healing potions. They only bloom at night.
  • **Mud Flats**: Dig for rare clay and fossil fragments used in artifact crafting.
  • **Cypress Strand**: Excellent wood type for making bows and staffs. Also home to will-o’-wisps that drop essence for enchantments.
  • **Key Locations**:
  • **The Sunken Temple**: A massive dungeon partially submerged in water. Completing it awards unique aquatic gear. Bring a group; the puzzles require teamwork.
  • **Witch’s Hut**: An NPC quest hub where you can trade rare herbs for runestones.
  • **Graveyard of Ships**: A labyrinth of sunken vessels with high-tier loot but patrolled by powerful drowned sailors.

The marsh is interconnected with the Crimson Desert via an underground tunnel, but you’ll need a torch and a key from the Bogtown quartermaster.

5. Crimson Desert (Endgame Region)

To the south, the landscape turns into a scorching desert with sandstorms and deadly heat. Only the best-equipped players should venture here.

  • **Safe Zone: Oasis Outpost** – A fortified oasis with limited water supply. Vendors sell heat-resistant garments and water canteens. There’s a bank terminal but no workbench—you must bring your own crafting materials.
  • **Resource Hotspots**:
  • **Searing Dunes**: Contains mithril and adamantium ore nodes, the rarest metals in the game. Extremely dangerous due to sandworms and rogue nomads.
  • **Cactus Groves**: Harvest cactus sap for temperature-regulating potions.
  • **Ruined Caravans**: Search for scrap electronics and high-tech components used in end-game gadgets.
  • **Key Locations**:
  • **The Forbidden City**: A massive ruin filled with traps and treasure. At its center, the boss “Pharaoh’s Curse” drops pieces of the legendary Sunfire Armor set.
  • **The Great Sinkhole**: A deep chasm leading to an underground network of lava tubes. Contains black diamonds and the rare Phoenix Ash.
  • **Nomad Camps**: Randomly spawning camps where you can trade valuables for map fragments that reveal secret locations.

Due to the extreme heat, you’ll need to manage your hydration meter carefully. Check out our [farming guide](/guides/farming-guide) for tips on stocking up on supplies before a desert run.

6. Secret Zones & Dynamic Events

Forsaken’s map isn’t static. Several hidden areas and events change based on time of day or server conditions.

  • **The Void Rifts**: Occasionally, purple rifts open across the map. Entering one transports you to a pocket dimension with alien resources and a time limit before it collapses.
  • **Blood Moon**: Every few in-game nights, a Blood Moon rises, strengthening undead and making rare beasts appear. During this event, the Whispering Woods become extremely dangerous, and special chests spawn in each region.
  • **Underground Bunkers**: Scattered across all biomes are bunkers that require a keycard. These contain high-tier military loot and notes expanding the game’s lore. For more on lore, read our [lore guide](/guides/lore-guide).

Travel & Navigation Tips

Navigating Forsaken can be daunting. Here are some practical tips to keep you alive and efficient:

  • **Mounts & Vehicles**: Purchase a mount from the stable in The Crossroads as early as possible. Horses, camels, and hoverbikes each have advantages in different terrains. A hoverbike glides over marsh water but breaks down in desert heat.
  • **Waypoints**: Activate any glowing obelisk you find. These become fast-travel points you can return to for a small fee. The more you activate, the better your network.
  • **Map Fragments**: Combine three fragments of the same region to reveal all points of interest permanently on your map. Fragments drop from zone bosses.
  • **Stealth vs. Speed**: In enemy-heavy areas, moving stealthily avoids unnecessary fights. However, if you’re farming resources, speed might be preferable to maximize yield.
  • **Group Coordination**: Use the in-game beacon system to mark locations for your party. This is essential in dungeons like the Sunken Temple or Forbidden City.
  • **Day/Night Cycle**: Some resources and NPCs only appear at night. Carry torches or night-vision goggles (crafted from swamp materials) to maintain visibility.

For players interested in the best gear for each zone, consult our [builds guide](/guides/builds-guide) and [weapons tier list](/guides/weapons-tier-list). If you’re focused on rare spawns and drops, the [rare items guide](/guides/rare-items) will help you track them.

Safe Zones Overview

Safe zones are critical for survival. They are marked with blue shields on the map. In addition to the ones mentioned:

  • **Crossroads Bunker**: Beneath The Crossroads, accessible during Blood Moons, provides emergency shelter and special vendors.
  • **Watchtower Network**: Scattered towers are neutral zones where you can rest and restock ammunition at a premium.

Remember, while safe zones prevent PvP, they do not protect against environmental damage or aggressive NPCs if you lure them inside.

Map Coordinates & Landmarks

Forsaken uses a coordinate system (X,Y) visible on the HUD. Learn to interpret coordinates to call out locations quickly.

  • Spawn/Crossroads: (0,0)
  • Loggers’ Camp: (-800, 200)
  • Hammerfell Keep: (0, 1200)
  • Bogtown: (1500, -200)
  • Oasis Outpost: (0, -1800)
  • Forbidden City: (500, -2500)

Always keep a mental note of your coordinates relative to the nearest safe zone. If you get lost, follow the power lines—they always lead back to The Crossroads.

Advanced Navigation: Shortcuts & Hidden Paths

  • **Whispering Woods -> Iron Peaks shortcut**: Behind the waterfall near the Old Mine, there’s a cave that emerges halfway up the mountain. Saves 10 minutes of hiking.
  • **Marsh -> Desert tunnel**: Use the key from Bogtown quartermaster after completing three quests. The tunnel entrance is under the large weeping willow at the edge of the marsh.
  • **Desert -> Peaks skybridge**: A broken stone bridge that requires a grappling hook to cross. Dangerous but direct.
  • **Underground River**: Flows from the Peaks all the way to the Marsh. Riding a boat or using a diving suit allows you to bypass most overworld threats.

These shortcuts are often guarded by elite enemies, so don’t attempt them undergeared.

Player Interaction & Land Control

As you progress, you’ll notice that certain resource nodes can be claimed by guilds. These “resource territories” appear on the map with a flag icon. Controlling one provides passive income of that resource. PvP is enabled in these zones, so be prepared. For PvP strategies, our [PvP guide](/guides/pvp-guide) covers territory defense.
